/ March 05, 2015
OGDEN, Utah - Following the Northern Arizona men's track and field victory at the Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships last Saturday in the Walkup Skydome, Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Eric Heins has been named the Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Men's Coach of the Year. The honor was voted on by conference coaches earlier this week.
The Lumberjacks' championship was the team's fourth-straight and 18th in program history. They secured the victory by having All-Big Sky finishers in every event area, including the Big Sky Champion in every sprint discipline. Also working toward the 'Jacks cause was the meet's Most Valuable Athlete, Futsum Zienasellassie, who picked up 28 points for the team with wins the 3000m and 5000m and a second-place finish in the mile.
This is Heins' 23rd overall Coach of the Year honor, fourth-straight for men's indoor track and field and his third of the 2014-15 season.
Deante Kemper represents the 'Jacks at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 14. The rest of the team kicks-off the outdoor season at the UC Irvine Spring Break Meet on March 20.
