/ April 10, 2015
DENVER, Colo. – The Western Athletic Conference announced their 2015 Winter All-Academic teams on Friday and the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team placed 14 student-athletes on the list for their exceptional work in the classroom.
Student-athletes receive WAC All-Academic honors if they have completed at least one academic year at their respective institution, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. With nine true freshmen on the roster who have yet to finish a full academic year at Northern Arizona University, the Lumberjacks' total will receive a big boost at the end of the current spring semester.
The Lumberjacks was named a Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America in February after posting a team GPA of 3.50 during the 2014 fall semester. As a team, the Lumberjacks have a cumulative GPA of 3.52, which ranks second among NAU's athletic programs. In all, 24 of the team's 26 student-athletes own a grade point average of at least 3.00.
