NAU Women's Tennis Set for Final Matches of the Regular Season

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Having already clinched a spot in the Big Sky Championships, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team will close out the regular season on the road against Montana State and Montana. The Lumberjacks will look to wrap up the third seed in the Big Sky tournament right behind Idaho and Sacramento State the only teams NAU have lost to in the Big Sky this season.
If the Lumberjacks win one of their matches this weekend, head coach Kim Bruno will wrap up her eighth winning season in her 10 years at Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks have been impressive on the road this season in the Big Sky with a 2-1 record away from Flagstaff.
Series
Northern Arizona and Montana State will meet for the 31st time as the Lumberjacks hold the 19-11 advantage. Montana and NAU will square off for the 29th time with NAU having won 22 matches.

Scouting Montana State
Montana State has found success this season in doubles play winning 54 percent of their matches. The Bobcats have had 12 different lineups in doubles play and 11 of the duo's have won at least one match. Angelina Philippova and Shelby Cerkovnik lead Montana State with five wins in doubles play. In singles play Philippova and Jessica Brycki lead the Bobcats with nine wins overall and four victories in Big Sky play.
Scouting Montana
Despite this being the final week of regular season matches, Montana has played only one match at home this season, against Southern Utah. Sasha Carter has been stellar for the Lady Griz this season with 14 wins in singles play, the most on the team, and she is also a perfect 8-0 in Big Sky play. The Griz have six players with at least seven wins in singles play. Montana has been exceptional in doubles this season winning 29 of 51 matches and leading the way is Catherine Orfanos and Carter with a team-leading 10 wins. Right behind Orfanos and Carter is Laurence Pelchat and Precious Gbadamosi with a 9-6 overall record and 5-2 in the Big Sky.
