Throwers Continue to Shine During the Outdoor Season

                     ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Northern Arizona track and field competed at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational today hosted by the University of New Mexico today in Albuquerque. 
The throws team continues to put up big marks as four posted qualifying distances today and three won their event. 
"Overall, I think we had a pretty good showing," said Assistant Coach Nathan Ott. "We're not quite there yet, but we're five weeks away from conference. The individual components are looking good--we just need to pull it all together."
Brooke Andersen - who's career-best of 61.63m in the hammer ranks eighth in the nation - won that event today in Albuquerque with a distance of 58.76m. Gus Margiotta picked up a qualifying mark in the hammer throw with his career-best distance of 54.28m and won the event. Margiotta currently leads the conference in the men's shot put with his distance of 17.06m. 
Micael Ljunberg won the men's discus today with a qualifying mark of 49.97m. Shawn Collins finished third in the shot put with 16.01m, also a qualifying mark. 
The 'Jacks also picked up conference qualifiers in the men's and women's triple jump. Alexander Odem posted a 13.86m on the men's side while Alexis Clay posted 11.72m on the women's side. 
The 'Jacks are back-in-action on April 11 for the Sun Angel Invitational hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
