/ May 01, 2015
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona head men's basketball coach Jack Murphy announced the signing of Marcus DeBerry to a National Letter of Intent. DeBerry brings NAU's signing class to seven.
"Marcus is a talented all-around player that can play at the point guard spot or off the ball," said assistant coach Matt Dunn. "He has great length and athleticism and was one of the best three-point shooters in Tennessee. Marcus comes from a great family and athletic program at Union City. Coach Sisco has built a winning program year-in and year-out and Marcus helped lead Union City this year to the state championship game. I'm excited to bring Marcus in along with our other incoming freshmen."
DeBerry comes to NAU after a successful high school career at Union City, in Tennessee. He was a three-time all-district honoree and two-time all-region selection. During his senior year he picked up first team all-state honors and was a Mr. Basketball Award finalist. DeBerry led the team in steals, assists, and blocked shots, while averaging 44 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line. He earned all-tournament team honors at the state championship and at the Poplar Bluff Showdown.
