NAU Women's Basketball 2015 Summer Camps Approaching Quickly
/ June 01, 2015
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona head women's basketball coach Sue Darling and her coaching staff are pleased to announce their 2015 Summer Camps and are inviting girls of all ages to join the Lumberjacks this summer in Flagstaff. Camp participants will receive instruction and coaching from not only the NAU women's basketball coaching staff, but also from the current Lumberjack players.
The Northern Arizona women's basketball team will host three camps on the NAU campus this summer, with two being held during the month of June. The Day Camp – the first of two camps in June – is rapidly approaching running from June 15-18. During the four-day camp, girls from the ages of 8-13 years old will take part in on-court activity centered on basketball fundamentals, teamwork and competition in a positive and supportive environment.
The Lumberjack Team Camp will follow from June 19-21 and is open to all high school varsity and junior varsity basketball teams. The Team Camp will include a guaranteed five games for registered teams as well as individual and team contests and a coaching clinic with the NAU women's basketball staff.
The team's summer camp schedule will conclude with the one-day Lumberjack Elite Camp on Aug. 2 designed for high school players interested in taking their game to the next level. During the camp, participants will take part in two skill development sessions including offensive and defensive concepts as well as 5-on-5 team play.
"From a recruiting standpoint, there is nothing better than being able to have young players from a wide age range on campus interacting with current NAU players and coaching staff both on and off the court," said assistant coach Karlie Burris. "It enables us as a program to get to know them and also allows the campers a chance to get to know us and who we are here at Northern Arizona University. Arizona is rich in basketball talent and therefore we are committed to recruiting elite level high school players."
Whether campers are just starting to pick up the game of basketball or have high aspirations to pursue basketball at the collegiate level, NAU has camps available to tailor to specific needs this summer.
