Six First-Year 'Jacks Earn WAC All-Academic Accolades

DENVER, Colo. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team placed six freshmen on the Academic All-WAC list, bringing their total to 20 All-Academic honorees for the recently completed 2014-15 academic year. The six first-year Lumberjacks needed to complete a full year at NAU before becoming eligible for the conference honor.

Claire Hammond, Alyssa Loeffelman, Allison Mann, Audrey Mann, Kimmy Richter and Alina Staffeldt joined their 14 Lumberjack teammates who were honored on the Winter All-Academic team in April. The six freshmen all enjoyed outstanding first years in college in the classroom with Allison Mann sporting a perfect 4.00 GPA in interior design. Audrey Mann finished with a 3.97 GPA and Richter was at 3.9 in exercise science and hotel & restaurant management respectively. Hammond, an undeclared major, completed her first year with a 3.9 GPA also while Staffeldt carries a 3.89 GPA in business economics. Loeffelman rounds out the six honorees with a 3.58 GPA in hotel & restaurant management.

The Western Athletic Conference honors student-athletes with a spot on the All-Academic list who have completed at least one academic year at their respective institution, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
