NAU's James Fisher Selected as Male Track Athlete of the Week

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Big Sky Conference announced earlier this afternoon that Northern Arizona University's James Fisher was selected as this week's male track athlete of the week. This is the first such honor Fisher has earned as a Lumberjack.

Fisher, the indoor redshirt-sophomore, competed this past weekend in 200m dash, 60m dash and ran the second leg of the men's 4x400m relay at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. The native Arlington, Texas, looked impressive in his strongest event, recording a second-place finish and a conference-qualifying time in the 200m dash. Fisher, who is the reigning indoor and outdoor 200m conference champ, actually ran a faster time on Saturday (21.38) than he did when he won the indoor title in the same event last season (21.45).

Fisher qualified for conference in the 60m dash as well, logging a 6.94 time and a ninth-place finish. In the men's 4x4, Fisher was a large contributor to the first-place finish the NAU men narrowly secured—one tenth of a second, to be exact—over the men's group from Grand Canyon University.

Fisher and the rest of the Lumberjack squad are back in action this Friday when they host Friday Night Duals, which is set to begin at 3 p.m. MST.
