NAU Records Nine First-Place Finishes in Final Meet Before Conference
/ April 30, 2016
FULLERTON, Calif. – Isiah Kennedy ran a personal best 10.37 time today in the men's 100m dash en route to one of nine first-place finishes for the Northern Arizona University track and field team Saturday afternoon at the Fullerton Five-Way.
Kennedy also ran a leg in the men's 4x100m relay and a 45.7 time split in the 4x400m relay to bookend the track meet for the Lumberjacks. Along with teammates DeShon Norris, James Fisher and Kossi Tchenawou, both relay groups nabbed first place finishes with 40.60 and a 3:12.23 times. Like Kennedy, Tchenawou (10.53-second) and Fisher (10.55-third) also surpassed pervious best marks to set new PR's today in the 100m.
For the throws team, Adam Keenan and Jessica Weise led the way for the 'Jacks to begin Saturday's festivities. Keenan—just like he has done all season—tossed another 220-plus throw in the men's hammer event, finishing in first with a 224-04 (68.29m) mark. This outdoor season, Keenan has competed in five hammer throw events and has three first-place finishes to his name.
On the women's side, Weise was the No. 1 finisher for the Lumberjack women, placing third overall in the women's hammer after slinging a 179-75 (54.79m) throw. Weise also competed in the shot put later in the day, registering a fourth-place, 47-7 (14.54m) throw to cap off her afternoon on the field.
Andy Trouard highlighted action Saturday for the NAU men's distance team, showing improvement from his last time out on the track and swiping two individual titles in the 1500m and 5000m events. Melanie Townsend also garnered a victory in the women's version of the 1500m race, while Mikayla Malaspina (17:27.47-second) and Miranda Myers (17:32.21-fourth) both ran to PR's in the women's 5000m.
