NEW ORLEANS, La. – After securing its fifth straight outdoor conference title and tenth consecutive Big Sky track and field championship this past weekend, the Northern Arizona University men's track and field team finds itself at No. 23 in week seven of the USTFCCCA's NCAA Division I National Rankings.
The Lumberjacks garnered a season-high 89.59 points in this week's USTFCCCA poll, and have been ranked as high as 18th in the country during their 2016 outdoor campaign.
The rise in the team's point total comes after the NAU squad dominated over the weekend at Big Sky Outdoor Conference Championships, raking in 187 points and finishing 97.5 points ahead of the second place team. The Lumberjack men also collected seven individual titles and a gold medal in the men's 4x400m relay event, while senior Adam Keenan earned the meet's Most Outstanding Athlete award.k
Next up for some of the Lumberjacks will be NCAA Division I West Prelims in Lawrence, Kan., May 26-28. That list of NAU athletes, though, will not be finalized until later in the week.
