Cross Country Closes Out Regular Season at ASU Invitational
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona University cross country teams wrapped up their regular season with the running of the Arizona State University Invitational on Friday morning at Karsten Golf Course.

The Lumberjack women finished third overall with 84 points, highlighted by Shannon Molvin's third-place performance of 18:52.77 for the three-mile course.

Kenzie Penca was next for NAU, finishing 10th with a 19:51.19 showing. Jessie Williams finished in 16th (20:23.77) while Zoe Wall came in 22nd (21:30.50). Megan Goettl rounded things out for the Northern Arizona attack in 33rd (23:36.48).

The women were nudged out by Arizona State (24 points) and Arizona (45). Central Arizona (84) came in fourth while Mesa Community College (120) made up the meet's top five.

On the men's side, NAU ran James Fitzgerald and Kyle Havriliak in uniform for the four-mile course. Fitzgerald placed second (21:02.39) while Havriliak was right behind in third (21:05.51).

The Lumberjacks also had Beau Prince, Jack Shea, Joey DeFeo and Elliot Gindi competing, but all were doing so as unattached runners.

Gindi came in fourth (21:15.18) while DeFeo came in 10th (21:26.61) with strong performances. Behind them was Jack in 21st (22:15.58) and Prince in 25th (22:26.46).

Due to numbers, Northern Arizona did not record a team score for the men's side. Arizona State won the meet with 31 points followed by Arizona (54), Central Arizona (63) and Mesa Community College (69).

The Lumberjacks will next be in action, looking to defend both their men's and women's Big Sky Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Ogden, Utah.
