Anokhina Goes Back-to-Back at the Russian Amateur Championship

MOSCOW, Russia – It is another "W" for Northern Arizona's Sofia Anokhina, as the Lumberjack junior successfully defended her 2016 title at this week's Russian Amateur Championship.

Anokhina, who won an NAU single-season record four tournaments this past spring, won her third career Russian Amateur Championship and her second consecutive title at this tournament after posting round scores of 75-76-76—227. The 2017 Big Sky "Player of the Year" and individual conference champion nabbed her fifth victory overall this year by an impressive eight strokes.

In six tournaments this spring, Anokhina averaged a round score of 71.23 (17 rounds played) and turned in the lowest 36-hole (7-under 137) and 54-hole (12-under 204) scores in program history. Additionally, Anokhina holds the Lumberjack record for the lowest single-season scoring average (73.00).
