FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 15, 2018) – Junior
Abby Stomp was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 First Team, selected by CoSIDA, for the second consecutive year on Thursday. Stomp now advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot with the honorees being announced in early December.
Stomp has maintained a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average in biology and was one of three honorees on the District 8 First Team with a 4.00 GPA. Stomp was one of three players from the Big Sky Conference to receive All-District honors. Northern Colorado's Brittany Lawrence (First Team) and Taylor Els (Second Team) were honored in District 7.
Stomp leads the Northern Arizona volleyball team with 673 assists and 5.96 assists per set. Her six double-doubles rank second on the team and she has also totaled 18 aces and 184 digs. The Albuquerque, N.M. native has started 26 of 29 matches and appeared in all 113 sets.
The Lumberjack setter has the opportunity to become only the second NAU volleyball player to receive Academic All-American honors following Lauren Campbell in 2011.
