FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 18, 2018) – NAU head coach Maciej Bogusz was able to kick off his first recruiting class with the Northern Arizona men's tennis team with two commitments. After hitting the recruiting trail hard, Bogusz's work paid off as on Nov. 16 both Alexander Groves and Eban Straker-Meads signed their NLI's.

"I am very excited about our first signed players," Bogusz said.  "We are bringing not only talented student-athletes but most of all great people."

Groves is an incoming 6-foot freshman from Essex, England. He currently competes for his school team, New Hall School and his club team. Groves decided to come to Northern Arizona University because of the excellent facilities, liked the team, good coaches and the good academics that the school offers. Groves' Essex county team has finished 2nd in England in both the winter and summer county cups

"Alex is one of the most talented juniors coming out of England," Bogusz said. "He will be a strong addition to our team, and we see him as a top player shortly."

The 'Jacks also inked Straker-Meads who is a transfer from Auburn University at Montgomery a division two school in Alabama. He is currently coached by Yair Banueles.

Before going to Auburn University at Montgomery, Straker-Meads attended high school at The Nottingham Emmanuel School in Nottingham, England. At Nottingham, Straker-Meads led the team to the City Schools Championships and reached the national semifinals in 2012.

"Eban is a transfer student that will be able to add to the leadership on our team," Bogusz said.  "He is very serious about his tennis, and we can't wait to start working with him."
