NAU Volleyball's Incoming Class of 2018: Aubrea Bandfield

Note: This is Part Two of the weekly unveiling of Northern Arizona volleyball's incoming 2018 class.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 27, 2018) – With just one setter on their roster, the Northern Arizona volleyball team received an official commitment from Aubrea Bandfield on National Signing Day back in November to bolster their team heading into the fall.

Bandfield, a 5-9 setter, comes to NAU from Temecula, Calif. where she was a three-time varsity letterwinner at Greak Oak High School.

"Aubrea is the epitome of an all-around setter," said head coach Ken Murphy. "She's got great coaching and is really well-trained, making her a technical setter. She plays defense, she blocks and she has a really good feel for how to help her team to win points and matches."

Serving as a team captain during her senior season last fall, Bandfield totaled 705 assists and helped lead Great Oak to the CIF Southern Section playoffs. Her efforts landed her a spot on the All-Southwestern League Second Team.

Bandfield was a two-year starter at Great Oak and was not only part of a conference championship team in the Southwestern League – one of the deepest leagues in Southern California – but her team also qualified for the state championships in 2015. She was also selected for her school's Athlete Leadership program during her junior and senior years.

Outside of her high school career, Bandfield's club team, Forza1, is currently the top-ranked team in California.

"Aubrea is no nonsense and plays every point with incredible intensity," Murphy said. "She has great leadership ability and we think she's going to make a big impact on our program."
