FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 2, 2019) – Northern Arizona University soccer is back on the road again after playing a pair of games at home. The team won both games, earning a 5-4-1 overall record and a 1-0-0 Big Sky Record.
The Lumberjacks played a double header on their home pitch against Houston and their Big Sky Conference opponent Southern Utah University.
NAU played Houston this past Friday night, winning 3-0.
Mei-Te Coco recorded her first goal this season with an assist from
Tatum Heeres. Heeres threw the ball in to Coco who scored just seven minutes into the game. The 'Jacks continued to put the pressure on the Cougars during the first half, scoring two more times.
Paige Maling scored the second goal of the game at the 35th minute after a free kick was taken by
Whitney Winans. Just two minutes later,
Madison Montgomery scored her fifth season goal off of a freekick. She broke through the defending wall, scoring the third and final goal of the game.
Maling found her fifth goal of the season playing Southern Utah on Sunday. She scored just three minutes in after an assist from
Kayla Terhune.
Kylie Kapustka scored in the first half for the 'Jacks, leading 2-1 going into the second half. In the second,
Tatum Heeres scored an unassisted goal, her first season goal. The team won 3-2 over SUU after taking 24 shots, 17 being on-goal.
Taryn Benham recorded her fourth shutout against Houston, recording four saves. Against SUU, Benham had two saves.

The all-time record Northern Arizona has over Sacramento State is 13-8-4. The 'Jacks last played the Hornets on Oct. 7, 2018, winning 2-0. Sacramento State last won over NAU in 2015 after going into overtime, 0-1.
Sac State has scored 18 goals with Kylee Kim-Bustillos is the Hornet's leading goal scorer at six. She records a 0.621 SOG%, with 29 shots and 18 on-goal. She also has two assists.
Ariana Nino is the next leading goal scorer with four. She has taken 11 shots with seven on-goal, recording a SOG% of .636. Like Kim-Bustillos, she has recorded two assists. Nino scored the game winning goal against San Jose State on Sept. 12, helping to win the game for the Hornets 2-1 two minutes before the second half ended.
Aaliyah Fesili, Sacramento State's goalkeeper, has played in all eleven games. She has recorded a total of four shutouts, only allowing 10 goals. She has recorded 60 saves with a save percentage of 0.857.

Since the Lumberjacks have started playing the Vikings in 1997, they have won 14 of the 26 games played. The other seven were found as a loss and five were a tie. The last time the teams played was last year on Oct. 5, with the NAU winning 2-0 over Portland.
The Vikings have scored a total of eight goals this season. Three belong to two different players: Sienna Higinbotham and Rilee Castilla. Higinbotham has started and played in all 11 games for PSU, taking 16 shots, eight being on-goal and also an assist. Castilla also has played in 11 games, starting in two and has recorded 22 shots, 10 on-goal.
PSU has two goalkeepers play: Enya Hernandez and Teri Walters. Hernandez, a freshman, has played in 11 games starting in nine. She's allowed 14 goals, recording 56 saves after facing 193 shots. Walters has started and played in two games, recording a total of 90 minutes. She's allowed six goals but also recorded six saves after facing 28 shots.
