FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (August 30, 2019) – Northern Arizona University soccer is returning to its home pitch for a single game this Sunday, Sept. 1, to challenge Detroit Mercy at 1 p.m.
Looking back: New York State of Mind
The Lumberjacks started the regular season with a double header in New York against Army West Point and Iona College. They racked up a tie against Army and a win against Iona, marking their season reason record at 1-0-1.
Against Army, sophomore
Madison Montgomery scored within the first 9 minutes of the game. The game was tied up when Army forward, Lauren Drysdale, scored at the 80
thminute of the game. The 'Jacks were unable to find the back of the net during the double overtime, resulting in a 1-1 tie.
Montgomery found her second goal in a row against Iona College just a couple days later in the 51
stminute of the game.
Kayla Terhune assisted her, passing the ball long down the left side of the field, where Montgomery was able to score.
Paige Maling recorded her first goal of the season after
Ana Rivera gave her a short pass to the right, sending the ball flying into the middle of the net.

This Sunday marks exactly two years since NAU and Detroit Mercy last faced each other, with NAU winning 1-0. The team took a total of 21 shots and 10 on-goal toward the Titans. The winning goal was assisted by

The Lumberjacks will be on the road for the next five contests. Next weekend, the team will be heading to the California coast to play a pair of games. The first game starts in the City of Angels at the University of Southern California on Fri., Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. They will then head north toward the bay area to Stockton, Cali. to the University of the Pacific, with kickoff at 1 p.m. Sun., Sept. 8.
