Soccer Hosts Weber and Idaho State for Pair of Weekend Matches in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 6, 2021) - The Lumberjacks prepare for a pair of weekend matches at Lumberjack Stadium, as they host Weber State and Idaho State.

The Weber State Wildcats will come to NAU to play on Friday night with kick-off set for 7 p.m. MST, the match can be streamed through ESPN+ here. Sunday, the Lumberjacks will face the Idaho State Bengals with a start time of 1 p.m. MST, the match will be streamed through ESPN+ here.

The Lumberjacks head into the weekend's matchups coming off their first Big Sky win to the Eastern Washington Eagles on Sunday. Holding the Eagles to four shots on goal, while putting up 11, NAU saw their best all around performance. Goalkeeper Natalie Manzo recorded her second career shutout with the help of the backline's work to control the ball throughout the match.

Friday's matchup against the Wildcats will be the teams first meeting since the Spring, when the Lumberjacks topped WSU 1-0 off of a Madison Montgomery goal. The all time series stands at 8-15-5, as the Wildcats lead.

Weber State holds a 6-5 record throughout their season so far, going 3-0 in Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats have won their last three matches where they faced Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Idaho State. Leading the team to their three game win streak is freshman Morgan Furmaniak who has recorded three goals and two assists. Furmaniak has put up eight shots on goal with a SOG% of 0.444.

Weber has split their goalkeepers time in the net between senior keeper Kaytlin Bradley and junior Mekell Moss. Bradley has made six starting appearances, allowing six goals with a save percentage of 0.808. Moss has seen five starts, allowing five goals with a save percentage of 0.769.

Idaho State heads into Sunday's match with a 0-12-1 record on the season. The Bengals are lead by freshman Deborah Pond who has recorded three goals along with a shots on goal percentage of .405. The Lumberjacks lead the Bengals in the all time series 17-8-2, while on a ten game win streak. NAU is 11-0-1 when facing ISU at home in Flagstaff.
