FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 10, 2021) –
Northern Arizona women's soccer (1-1) will look forward to hosting the Weber State Wildcats (1-1-1) this Friday and Sunday for their first home competition of the 2021 spring season. Friday's game will begin at 1 p.m. MST with Sunday's starting at 12 p.m. MST.

The match will be played at the local high school facility, Flagstaff High School. Due to the lack of internet connection at the location, the weekend matches will not be livestreamed, live stats will not be available, and fans are not allowed to attend, per an earlier release outlining spectator rules for NAU Athletics.

Northern Arizona began its season in Feb., playing a two-game series against in-state college rivals. Against Grand Canyon on Feb. 7, the 'Jacks got the ball rolling with a 2-0 win over the Lopes. With two goals by Abby Donathan and Kayla Terhune, NAU earned an early advantage in the first half of the match leading to its first victory and shutout of the spring.

A few weeks later, the Lumberjacks traveled to Tucson, Ariz., for a matchup against the Arizona Wildcats on Feb. 20. Northern Arizona fought hard, but ultimately were faced a 3-0 shutout win for the Cats.

The 'Jacks will look forward to this weekend, kicking off both their first home matches and Big Sky Conference play against Weber State.

WSU, too, will start their Big Sky slate this weekend. So far, the Wildcats are 1-1-1 on the season, most recently drawing their first 2-0 win and shutout over Westminster on March 7.

The Lumberjacks are 7-15-5 against Weber St. all-time. Northern Arizona has not pulled a victory over the Wildcats since Oct. 25, 2015, where the 'Jacks won 2-1 in a home overtime win. More recently, the conference opponents are on a two-game tie trend after going scoreless on Sept. 23, 2018 and 1-1 in double overtime on Oct. 25, 2019.

As such, the Lumberjacks will look for their first win over the Wildcats in a little over six years and their first conference win of the season.

In the Big Sky Coaches Poll back on July 21, 2020, Northern Arizona was selected to finish ahead of Weber. With a tally of 49 and one first-place vote, the Lumberjacks were ranked as No. 5 in the conference, with Weber behind as No. 6 with 40 points.
