FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 18, 2021) – Coming off of a home win against the Weber State Wildcats (1-2-1), Northern Arizona women's soccer (2-1) will travel to Cedar City, Utah for a pair of weekend games against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds (1-0-1). Both Friday and Sunday's games will start at 11 a.m. MST and will be played at the Thunderbird Soccer Field. The game can be watched live on

The Thunderbirds will open Big Sky Conference play coming off of a win against Benedictine University at Mesa (0-2-1) after their weekend series with Northern Colorado was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Southern Utah travelled to Mesa, Ariz. to pick up a game against Benedictine University at Mesa after their series with Northern Colorado (0-1) was cancelled. They quickly found rhythm in the match, scoring six goals out of their 10 shots on goal and held the Redhawks to zero goals and only one shot on goal, saved by the Thunderbirds goalkeeper Jennifer Kovisto.
Kate Schirmer leads the Thunderbirds through their season with four goals and a shooting percentage of 0.800.
The Lumberjacks are looking for a pair of wins in Cedar City and to further their momentum in Big Sky play this spring. The 'Jacks began the season with a non-conference win against Grand Canyon University (2-7) and a non-conference loss to the University of Arizona (5-3) before they took their first Big Sky conference victory against the Weber State Wildcats.
Northern Arizona is holding a shots on goal percentage of 0.333 with three goals on the season and racking up 13 saves on the other side of the ball. Abby Donathan,

Taryn Benham holds 13 saves with a save percentage of 0.813 through three games.
Coming off a one game weekend after Friday's match was cancelled due to inclement weather, the Lumberjacks hope to build some offensive power against the Thunderbirds. In Sunday's match against Weber State, NAU saw a lot of time controlling the ball with 11 shots and five shots on goal, ultimately scoring one goal that would win the Lumberjacks the game.
The Lumberjacks sit at third in the Big Sky standings behind Montana (3-0) and Eastern Washington (3-2) early on in the spring season. NAU was picked to finish fifth in the Big Sky Conference Preseason Poll, ahead of Southern Utah who was placed in 10th.
Northern Arizona goes into this meeting with the Thunderbirds with an all-time record of 14-1-2 against Southern Utah and a two game winning streak. The 'Jacks will be focused on strengthening that streak and adding some wins to their Big Sky play.
