FARMINGTON, Utah (March 30, 2021) – Sophomore
Taylor Jacobsen and senior
Heaven Harris, Northern Arizona volleyball's top two hitters, garnered a spot on the Spring 2021 All-Big Sky First Team in a release by the conference office on Tuesday. It is the seventh consecutive season that the Lumberjacks have placed multiple players on the First Team.
Jacobsen earned her second career all-conference honor and first on the First Team. Last season as a freshman, Jacobsen was voted to the All-Big Sky Second Team.
The second-year outside hitter from Chandler, Ariz. has been one of the league's top attackers all spring, ranking second in the Big Sky entering the conference tournament with 4.00 kills per set. Even more impressive, Jacobsen has killed the ball with high efficiency, ranking ninth with a .275 hitting percentage.
Jacobsen has seen her offensive output take a sizeable leap up from her debut season in which she averaged 2.68 kills while hitting .191. She has tallied double-digit kills in 12 of 14 regular season matches and at least nine kills in every contest. Jacobsen is also leading the team with nine double-doubles, averaging 2.91 digs along with 0.44 blocks per set.
For Harris, she becomes the fourth player in program history to earn four all-conference honors joining Sydney Kemper (2011-14), Janae Vander Ploeg (2012-15) and Abby Akin (2016-19). Harris is also the third Lumberjack along with Vander Ploeg and Akin to receive three All-Big Sky First Team nods.
Harris is second on the team in kills behind Jacobsen at 2.63 per set. She ranks 10th in the Big Sky in hitting percentage at .269.
The Phoenix product has recorded eight double-digit kill matches and has hit .286 or better in eight matches. Her blocking has also experienced a huge jump over the last seven matches with an average of 0.74 per set. Overall, Harris is third on the team with 27 blocks this season.
