Lumberjacks Return Home to Host Eastern Washington and Idaho

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 4, 2022) - After a two week slate on the road, the Lumberjacks are returning to Flagstaff this week to host Eastern Washington and Idaho in Lumberjack Stadium.

NAU will take on the Eastern Washington Eagles on Thursday night at 7 p.m. MST. You can watch the match on ESPN+, and find live stats here. Sunday, the 'Jacks face the Idaho Vandals for an early matchup at 12 p.m. MST. You can watch the match on ESPN+, and stream live stats here.

Maddie Shafer leads the Lumberjacks in points after connecting with Julie Lind on the 'Jacks lone goal at Idaho State last Sunday. Shafer leads the Big Sky in points per game, and is third in the total points. The Junior also leads the conference in assists per game with an average of 0.44, and is tied for second in total assists with four.

The Lumberjacks are coming off their first Big Sky win in Pocatello, improving their overall record to 2-5-4, with a 1-1 conference record.

NAU goalkeeper Trinity Corcoran earned her seventh start on Sunday, improving her goals allowed average to 0.71. Corcoran holds a save percentage of 0.815, adding her fourth shutout of the season to her resume.

Eastern Washington holds a 5-5-4 record through the season with two Big Sky wins and two conference ties. The Eagles are coming off two impressive ties to Northern Colorado and Montana. EWU's conference wins are to Idaho State and Weber State. The Eagles are ranked second in the Big Sky standings, making Thursday night's matchup a crucial one for both teams.

The Eagles are led by Maddie Morgan who has recorded three goals along with three assists in EWU's 14 matches. Morgan holds a SOG% of 0.321, and has scored two game-winners for the Eagles. She has started in all 14 matches and has 886 minutes through the season.

In goal for the Eagles is Kamryn Willoughby who has played 1,049 minutes in the box. Willoughby has recorded four shutouts and holds a save percentage of 0.771 as a freshman.

The last time the Eagles and Lumberjacks met was in Cheney last October, where the 'Jacks earned the 1-0 win. NAU leads the all time series with a record of 14-9-2.

The Idaho Vandals will head to Flagstaff for a Sunday matchup in Lumberjack Stadium, as they come off a four game win streak to open up Big Sky play. The Vandals are ranked No. 1 in the conference standings. Idaho's four straight wins all come in 1-0 shutout fashion.

The Vandals hold a 9-1-2 overall record, led by Maddy Lasher who has three goals and four assists through the season. Lasher has a SOG% of 0.571. Junior Margo Schoesler earned her first Big Sky offensive player of the week award after scoring one goal and assisting another this week against Montana and Northern Colorado.

As the Vandals swept the weekly conference awards, defender Cassidy Elicker earned defensive player of the week after playing a vital role in the weekend shutouts. The Vandals lead the NCAA with four consecutive shutouts, and are led by Avrie Fox who has six shutouts and a save percentage of 0.815.
