Volleyball Closes Home Slate with Weber State, Idaho State

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 9, 2022) – For the final time during the 2022 season, the Northern Arizona University volleyball team will take to the Rolle Activity Center for a pair of matches against Weber State and Idaho State.
The Lumberjacks host Weber State on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Standard time before facing off against the Bengals for the first time this season on Saturday, Nov. 12. First serve is set for 12 p.m. MST and the 'Jacks will honor
Kate Hatch and
Jasmine West prior to their final home matches. Both contests will stream on ESPN+.
Northern Arizona looks to snap a four-match losing skid and are coming off a 3-0 road loss to Northern Colorado on Nov. 5, currently sitting at 3-16 overall with a 2-10 mark in Big Sky Conference play.
Weber State currently sits in second place in the conference standings with a 9-3 record (15-8 overall). Idaho State is on a hot streak, winning three-straight with a 5-7 mark in Big Sky action and 13-12 overall.
The Lumberjacks and the Wildcats have faced off once this season in Ogden, Utah, back on Sept. 24 where NAU lost 3-1.
Kacee Moore paced the 'Jacks with 11 kills while
Millie O'Ketter (27) and
Kate Hatch (16) posted double-digit digs.
Jordan Cherniss served up four aces, while
Jordan Elder hit .500 (7-1-12) in the match.
NAU leads the all-time series with the Wildcats, 48-38, including a 29-12 lead in Flagstaff, but have lost four-straight to WSU. The last win dates back to March 8, 2021 with a 3-1 victory at home.
Weber State holds its opponents to a hitting percentage of .161 to lead the conference, while striking .213 themselves. The Lumberjacks are hitting .183 as a team this year. For WSU, it boasts the conference's best hitter in Brielle Rueckert who hits at a .380 clip, and Saane Katoa who hits .336. Katoa also leads the conference with 1.22 blocks per frame, and Kate Standifird handles the Wildcat offense with 9.82 assists per set.
During last week's match at UNC, Moore (9) and Hatch (10) led the team once again in those respective categories. O'Ketter currently ranks second in the conference in digs per set, posting an average of 4.33, while Hatch ranks seventh in assists with 8.89 per set. Kylie Moran paces the 'Jacks with 2.16 kills per set in 14 matches played, and
Jordan Elder is the team leader in blocks per set with 0.81.
On the other hand, Northern Arizona looks to keep a six-match winning streak against the Bengals alive. The Lumberjacks haven't lost to ISU since Sept. 20, 2018 in a five set deficit at home. In Flagstaff, NAU is 24-13 all-time against the Bengals with a narrow 41-39 lead in the overall series.
Idaho State plays at first-place Northern Colorado on Thursday before making the trip to Flagstaff. The Bengals have won three-straight, including victories over Weber State, Eastern Washington, and Idaho. ISU sits at the bottom of the conference with a .180 hitting percentage and average 11.67 kills per set. Emrie Satuala ranks fourth in the Big Sky with a clip of .330 and second with 1.17 blocks per set, while Sadie Bluth leads the team in kills per set with 3.04.
Following the final home stretch, Northern Arizona hits the road one last time during the regular season. The Lumberjacks look to avenge a 3-1 loss earlier in the season to Idaho on Nov. 17 when they face the Vandals in Moscow. The final regular season contest comes on Nov. 19 at Eastern Washington. NAU beat the Eagles in five sets on Oct. 20 in Flagstaff.
