FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (December 2, 2022) – The Northern Arizona University track & field teams will begin their indoor season this Saturday as they send three athletes to the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
Traveling for the team will be
Drew Bosley,
Nico Young, and
Elise Stearns. They will each compete in the 5K race, looking to capitalize on their successful cross country seasons.
Young and Bosley placed second and third at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships last month, finishing with times of 28:44.5 and 28:55.9 respectively in the 10K. Stearns finished fourth at the national meet, running a time of 19:43.9. All three earned All-American honors at the national meet.
Last year the Lumberjacks sent both Bosley and Young, with each running a personal best. Young also ran a U20 men's indoor 5000-meter record. Also competing were
George Kusche and now alumni
Abdihamid Nur. Nur, Young, Bosley, and Kusche finished the meet respectively ranked No. 2, No. 3, No. 6, and No. 9 on the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying list.
Currently, Bosley has a personal best of 13:26.19 in the 5K, which he set at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. Young has a personal best of 13:21.23 in the 5K, set at last season's indoor NCAA Championships. Stearns will be running her first career indoor 5K.
Stearns will compete at 2:30 p.m. MST, while Bosley and Young will compete at 4:10 p.m. MST. The meet will be streamed on FloTrack, with live coverage beginning at 8:00 a.m. MST. Live results for the meet can be found
