oFLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (August 1, 2022) – Northern Arizona University standout sprinter Alyssa Colbert will serve as the alternate for Team USA's 4x100-meter relay team at the 2022 U20 World Championships in Colombia.
The preliminary round for the women's 4x100-meter relay will take place on Thursday, August 4 at 1 p.m. MST. Should the USA relay team qualify, the finals will take place on Friday, August 5 at 3:30 p.m. MST.
Colbert had an outstanding freshman season for NAU last spring, sweeping the Big Sky's Women's Freshman of the Year awards during the indoor and outdoor track & field season. During the indoor Big Sky Championships she set a new school, conference championship, and facility record in the 60-meter preliminary, with a personal best time of 7.32. In addition to winning the 60-meter, she was the 200-meter champion, with a personal best time of 24.44. Colbert earned the Big Sky Women's Co-Most Valuable Athlete award for her efforts at the indoor championships.
At the outdoor Big Sky Championships Colbert swept the 100-meter and 200-meter titles. Her 100-meter time of 11.33 was a personal best as well as a conference, conference championship, and NAU record. She was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team, which earned third place at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
At the NCAA Outdoor West Regional Preliminaries, Colbert competed in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. She placed 30th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.62 while she ran a 24.37 in the 200-meter dash to place 45th.
