FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 1, 2024) - The Northern Arizona women's volleyball team will take on Northern Colorado at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Standard time on Oct. 4 at home in Flagstaff. The Lumberjacks are currently 7-6, 0-2 on their season and the Bears are 10-5, 1-1.
Northern Arizona is looking to bounce back from a 3-0 loss against Montana State last week. MSU held advantages in kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, digs, and blocks throughout the one-hour, 38-minute match.Â
The UNC Bears are coming off a 3-2 loss (12-25, 28-26, 25-22, 17-25, 12-25) against Idaho State this past weekend. Northern Colorado is currently led by Gabi Placide, who has started all 15 matches and has recorded 193 kills, ranking fifth in the Big Sky Conference.
The last time the 'Jacks and Bears went head-to-head was in Oct. last year when Northern Arizona suffered a 0-3 loss at home. The Bears currently have a three-win streak over the Lumberjacks. In the all-time series, UNC has a 23-12 advantage over NAU dating back to 1974.
As a team, Northern Arizona leads the Big Sky Conference in opponent-hitting percentage, holding a .163 percentage. They also lead in opponent service aces with an average of 1.2 per set.
Two Lumberjacks continue to lead the Big Sky Conference offensively and defensively. Taylor Jacobsen is the leader in kills with an average of 3.89 kills per set. Millie O'Ketter leads in digs with an average of 5.09 per set, helping the team to lead the conference in dig percentage overall with 17.84 per set.
Following the upcoming home match, the Lumberjacks will go on a two-game road trip to play against Sacramento State on Oct. 10 and Portland State on Oct. 12.
