FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 26, 2024) – As the 2024 indoor season comes to a close, the NAU track & field teams are preparing to begin their outdoor season and hope to continue to see historic success.
The men's and women's teams are both three-time defending Big Sky Outdoor Conference Champions and look to continue their dominance at the conference level. Last season, the team sent 24 athletes to the NCAA West Regional, with four competing at the NCAA National Championships.
The Lumberjacks will begin their season the week after the NCAA Indoor National Championships as they travel to Tucson, Ariz. For the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta on Mar. 16.
The team will return to Tucson the next weekend for the Willie Williams Classic on Mar. 22-23. Closing out the month of March, NAU will travel to Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational.
The 'Jacks will begin the month of April with a split-squad weekend, traveling groups to the UNLV Outdoor Meet in Las Vegas, Nev. and the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. on April 5-6.
The following weekend the team will send athletes to the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. from April 11-13.
The Lumberjacks will have a long week at the MT. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. with competition running from April 17-20. To finish out the month of April, the team will return to Tucson for the Desert Heat Classic.
As they enter May, the Lumberjacks will also enter postseason competition, traveling to Bozeman, Mont. for the Big Sky Outdoor Conference Championships from May 8-11.
Following the conference championships, they will send athletes to the Sound Running Meet in Los Angeles, Calif. on My 18.
The NCAA West Regional will be held from May 22-25 at the University of Arkansas, with NAU hoping to qualify a large number of athletes for the national championships. Those that qualify will then travel to Eugene, Ore. For the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
