FLAGSTAFF, Ariz (Sept. 27, 2024) - The Northern Arizona women's volleyball team will travel to Bozeman for their first road conference game where they will play against Montana State. Northern Arizona is currently 7-5, 0-1 on its season, and Montana State is currently 2-10, 0-1.
The Lumberjacks are coming off a loss against pre-season favorites Weber State this week. The Wildcats swept the 'Jacks in straight sets 25-22, 25-16, 25-21. The Bobcats also fell in their Big Sky conference opener this week to Sacramento State. The Hornets got the better of Montana State, knocking the Bobcats off in four sets 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-17 on Thursday night.
As a team Montana State ranks 50th in the nation with 108.5 total blocks and 53rd in blocks per set at 2.52. Last weekend, the Cats out blocked their opponents 2.09 to 1.91 per set, including a 10-5 advantage over #14 Arizona State.
The last time the 'Jacks and the 'Cats met was in November of 2023 where Montana State took a 3-1 win. In the all-time record, NAU has a 43-30 lead, dating back to 1987. Northern Arizona will look to break the six-game losing streak against Montana State tomorrow (Sept. 28)Â at 6 p.m. Mountain Standard time.Â
Currently Northern Arizona leads in two categories in the Big Sky. Firstly with the highest kill percentage with an average of 3.89 kills per set by Taylor Jacobsen and the highest dig percentage by Millie O'Ketter with an average of 4.96 digs per set.
Following their trip to Bozeman, the Lumberjacks will return home next week to play a match against Northern Colorado, starting at 6:30 MST in Rolle Activity Center.Â
