FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 29, 2025) – The Northern Arizona University women's swimming and diving team will travel to the Pacific Northwest this weekend for a pair of dual meets against Idaho and Washington State.
The Lumberjacks open competition on Friday, October 31, in Moscow, Idaho, for a Halloween match-up at the University of Idaho Swim Center, with the 3M dive set to begin at 4:45 p.m. MT and swimming events to follow at 5 p.m. MT. The following morning, on Saturday, November 1, NAU will compete at Pullman to face Washington State at Gibb Pool, beginning at 10:30 a.m. MT.
Friday's match-up with Idaho continues one of NAU's most familiar series, as the Lumberjacks have won 12 of the last 13 meetings and hold a nine-meet win streak over the Vandals dating back to 2013. Their most recent contest came last fall, when NAU claimed a 176.5–123.5 victory in Moscow to open conference play. The dual serves as a mid-season measuring stick for a program that has built its success on depth and balance across events.
On Saturday, NAU will face a strong Washington State team that now competes in the Mountain West Conference following the Pac-12's realignment. The Lumberjacks defeated the Cougars 178–116 in their last meeting in January 2023, marking their first win over WSU since 2011. Historically, Washington State leads the series 6–2, but the Lumberjacks enter with renewed confidence as they continue to build momentum in the early stages of their 2025–26 campaign. This weekend's meets also mark the start of a new chapter for the program, as NAU transitions into the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) this season after a dominant run in the Western Athletic Conference.
