FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 8, 2025) -Â Looking to bounce back from a weekend of losses, the Northern Arizona women's volleyball team will return home this week to host Portland State on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. MST and Sacramento State on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. MST. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
Northern Arizona (12-5, 2-2) recently fell 2-3 to Montana State and 1-3 at Montana, dropping from a tie for first place in the conference to fifth.
Hanah Stoddard continues to lead the Big Sky Conference in kills (4.65 per set) and points (5.04 per set). She also ranks sixth in digs with 3.62 per set, just ahead of teammate Melia Barlow, who sits seventh with 3.51 per set.
Portland State stands at 6-8 overall and 2-1 in Big Sky play, with sweeps over Idaho State and Montana State placing the Vikings fourth in the standings. Most recently, PSU fell 1-3 to Sacramento State on Oct. 3.
Last season, NAU and Portland State split their meetings. The Lumberjacks dropped a 3-0 match in Portland on Oct. 12 but rebounded with a 3-0 home win on Nov. 7. In the all-time series, Northern Arizona leads 32-26, dating back to 1996.

Sacramento State enters the week 9-6 overall and also 2-1 in Big Sky play, having lost its opener to Montana (0-3), then sweeping Weber State (3-0), and most recently defeating Portland State (3-1).
Hornets sophomore Victoria Marthaler was named Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week following the win over the Vikings. She accounted for nearly half of Sacramento State's kills, finishing with a career-high 28 kills (7.00 per set) and a .397 hitting percentage.
Last season, the Lumberjacks dropped both matches to the Hornets, falling 1-3 in Sacramento in Oct. and 0-3 at home in Nov. In the all-time series, NAU trails 24-44, with Sacramento State currently holding a six-match winning streak.
