MOSCOW, Idaho (October 31, 2025) - Northern Arizona Swimming and Diving opened its Halloween weekend road trip with a hard-fought battle against Idaho on Friday evening, falling just short in a 160.5–139.5 dual at the UI Swim Center.
The Lumberjacks showed strong depth throughout the lineup, led by senior Mackenna Stocker, who swept both diving events. Stocker captured the 3-meter title with a score of 330.45 and followed up with another victory on the 1-meter board (311.25). Sisters Grace and Margaret Wesche rounded out top-four finishes in both events, giving NAU a dominant presence on the boards.
In the pool, Elsa Musselman delivered a standout triple-win performance, taking first in the 200 butterfly (2:03.64), 100 butterfly (54.84), and 100 freestyle (51.73). Senior Cydnie Perkins added two individual victories in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.10) and 200 breaststroke (2:17.94), while sophmore Isahbel Krasht posted strong efforts with runner-up finishes in the 500 freestyle (5:02.70) and solid splits in relay action.
Head coach Andy Johns praised the team's resilience and the quality of competition:
"Hats off to Idaho, they raced well and in the first of the meet took several first and second places which made it tough for us," head coach Andy Johns said. "In the second half we raced really hard and got pretty close up until the last two events. I'm proud of Elsa who won three events tonight, Cydnie winning both of the breaststroke events and Isahbel stepping up. The divers were solid today and kept us in the meet down to the final two events. There are some things we did tonight that I'm excited about but hats off to the Vandals, they were ready and brought good competition. Now it is time for us to have a quick turn around and get ready for a really good Washington State team tomorrow."
NAU returns to action Saturday morning in Pullman for a quick turnaround against Washington State, continuing its Pacific Northwest road swing. Swimming results are available on the MeetMobile app, with diving results posted on DiveMeets.com.
