FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Sept. 10, 2025) -Â The Northern Arizona women's volleyball team will host the annual Lumberjack Classic this week, welcoming UC San Diego, Texas Tech, and Southern Utah.
Currently, the Lumberjacks are 4-2 on the season. As a team, they have registered 285 kills, 98 of which have been recorded by redshirt junior Hanah Stoddard, followed by Gigi Greenlee with 63. Greenlee also has 32 total blocks, Masina Perez has 20, and Avery Gottschalk has 14. Of the 374 team digs, Stoddard has 80, and Melia Barlow has 74. Ella Hosfeld leads the team in assists with 125, closely followed by Keira Hall with 104.
The Classic will kick off with NAU playing against UC San Diego on Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST).
Sept. 12 will se Southern Utah face Texas Tech at 10 a.m. MST, followed by SUU facing UCSD at 4:30 p.m. MST, and finally NAU taking on Texas Tech at 6:30 p.m. MST.
On Sept. 13, UCSD will play Texas Tech at 11 a.m. MST, and NAU will take on SUU at 1 p.m. MST.
All matches will be held at the Rolle Activity Center. Live streaming will be available on ESPN+ for games featuring NAU. Links to live stats for all matches can be found on the schedule page here.
The UCSD Tritons (1-5) most recently went 0-3 at the Boise State Classic, where they fell 3-0 to Boise State, Oregon State, and Arizona. Their sophomore outside hitter, Molly McCluskey, was named to the all-tournament team for the second consecutive week. She leads the Big West Conference in points (104.5, 5.23 per set) and has tallied 92 total kills. The last time NAU met UCSD was at their UCSD Tournament in 2024, where the 'Jacks fell 0-3.
The Red Raiders of Texas Tech (4-2) are coming off a 2-1 weekend, having defeated Duke and Alabama State, while falling to Georgia. Junior MB/RS Reagan Engler recorded two double-doubles and posted double-digit kills in all three matches, including a career-high 19 against Georgia. The Red Raiders are the only team in the country with at least nine freshmen and zero true seniors. Texas Tech hosted Northern Arizona last year as part of the Red Raider Classic and swept the Lumberjacks 3-0.
Southern Utah has opened its season at 0-6. Last year, the two teams met at the UC San Diego tournament, where NAU claimed a 3-1 victory. The Thunderbirds also visited Flagstaff, where they were swept by the Lumberjacks 3-0.
In both of the two road tournaments played so far, NAU has had two players named to the all-tournament team. Stoddard and Sophia Wadsworth were selected at the Lobo Invitational in late August, while Stoddard and Greenlee were named at the GCU Classic this past week.
Stoddard also earned her first Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week award after averaging 5 kills per set, posting a hitting percentage of .291, and recording double-doubles in all three matches at the GCU Classic.
