SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 20, 2025) - The Northern Arizona volleyball team battled hard on Saturday afternoon, taking a set off Wofford in a four-set match at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium, falling 23-25, 12-25, 25-20, 15-25.
Hanah Stoddard led the way for NAU with a double-double, finishing with 16 kills and a match-high 24 digs. She was joined offensively by Gigi Greenlee and Laney Wilson, who each tallied seven kills to keep the attack balanced. At the net, Sophia Wadsworth, Avery Gottschalk, and Greenlee all recorded three blocks apiece.
In the setting rotation, Keira Hall dished out 19 assists while adding steady defense, and Ella Hosfeld provided 17 assists of her own to keep the offense in rhythm. Both Melia Barlow and Hosfeld also chipped in from the service line with two aces each, while Hall and Kylie Moran added another. Defensively, Barlow anchored the back row with 15 digs, and Hosfeld added 10.
After dropping a close first set, NAU responded in the third with its most efficient offense of the match, hitting .227 while holding the Terriers to .105. Stoddard tallied five kills on .417 hitting in the frame, and the 'Jacks closed on a 6-0 run to win the set 25-20.
With two sweeps over the tournament, Stoddard and Wadsworth were both named to the all-tournament team.
Northern Arizona moves to 10-3 overall, while Wofford is now 4-7. The Lumberjacks return to action next week as they prepare for the start of Big Sky Conference play, hosting Idaho in the Rolle Activity Center on Sept. 25 at 6:00 p.m. Mountain Standard time.
