FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Jan. 29, 2026) -Â Northern Arizona opened the Lumberjack Diving Invitational with a strong showing on the boards Friday, highlighted by multiple podium finishes in the women's 1-meter championship and a third-place team result in the women's team event.
In the women's 1-meter championship, the Lumberjacks put three divers inside the top five. Mackenna Stocker led the way with a runner-up finish, scoring 569.00 across prelims and finals. Close behind, Grace Wesche earned third place with a total of 549.40, while Margaret Wesche followed in fifth at 542.55, giving NAU one of the deepest podium presences of the meet.
Northern Arizona also secured a third-place finish in the women's team event, posting a combined score of 252.75. The NAU squad of Mackenna Stocker, Grace Wesche, and Margaret Wesche held their own against a deep field, finishing behind only San Diego State's A and B teams.
Northern Arizona's depth was on full display throughout the day, a point emphasized by Associate Head Coach and Head Diving Coach Nikki Kelsey.
"I thought we did a great job today. To have our three veteran seniors finish in the top six was great, and they were very consistent through prelims and carried that into finals," Kelsey said. "There are still some small things we can clean up, but I was really pleased with everyone's effort. Kirsten did some really good things as well, she even competed a new dive today and is becoming more consistent. I'm excited to see what this group can do on the one-meter board come conference time."
The Lumberjacks will return to the boards Saturday as the invitational continues, looking to build on a productive opening day in Flagstaff.
