NAU Soccer Looks to Close Regular Season on High Note at Northern Colorado

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 3, 2026) – The Northern Arizona soccer team will play their final match of the regular season this week against Northern Colorado.

The Lumberjacks will kickoff against the Bears on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. MST. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available here.

Second place and a spot in the semifinals of the approaching conference championship is up for grabs, and NAU must secure three points from a win to push itself into that position.

NAU enters the match at 8-5-5 and 4-1-3 in Big Sky matches, following a 2-0 loss at Weber State this past weekend that ended a 10-match unbeaten streak going back to Sept. 13. The stretch without a loss is the second-longest in program history and marks the third time NAU has compiled an unbeaten October.

Micala Boex continues to lead the attack with seven goals and five assists on the season. She ranks first in the conference in shots per game (5.33), and shots on goal per game (2.17), and is the only player in the Big Sky ranked in the top five of both goals and assists. Boex has climbed the ladder in the NAU record books this season. Her assist against Idaho State on Oct. 29 placed her seventh all-time in assists (14), while she also became the seventh Lumberjack soccer player to record 50 or more points in a career.

Valerie Llamas, however, has led the way in league action this season, recording a team-best four goals and one assist.

Lexi Saveski has started in all but one game in goal for NAU and owns a conference-best and 22nd in the nation save percentage of 0.859 and a GAA of 0.79 to rank second in the conference.

Northern Colorado (8-6-4, 5-1-2 Big Sky) has surpassed expectations this season, as it was voted to finish ninth in the Big Sky Preseason Poll but has lost just one match in league action. Ava Marshall leads the attack with five goals on the season, while Lexi Tuite has provided four assists. Thordis Melsted is third in the league in save percentage (0.805) but ranks sixth in goals allowed (22). Head Coach Tim Barrera is in his 28th season at the helm of the Bears, seeking his third Big Sky title at UNC and first since 2019.
