FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 9, 2026)Â -Â The Northern Arizona divers competed in the 1-meter event on the first day of the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, held at the Wall Aquatic Center.
A total of 52 women competed in the preliminary round with hopes of qualifying in the top 18 for a finals spot. The top six finishers in the 1-meter and platform events automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, along with the top five in the 3-meter.
Grace Wesche led the way for the Lumberjacks, placing 10th in the preliminary round with a score of 262.30. Moving on to the finals, she scored 527.65 to finish ninth.
Utah's Callie Eaglestone took the top spot with a final score of 574.45.
Finishing with a score of 251.05, Mackenna Stocker placed 19th, just 1.2 points outside the top 18. Margaret Wesche placed 21st with a preliminary score of 247.15.
"Overall, I thought we did a really good job. They were consistent," head diving coach Nikki Kelsey said. "Having a couple just miss the finals is, of course, heartbreaking, but overall they still did a solid job. Grace did one dive that is really one of those money dives. When she hits it, it's phenomenal. It was awesome to see her in the mix and finishing ninth, just a few points away from qualifying for the NCAA Championships. We've got tomorrow to look forward to, and I'm excited for us on the three-meter."
Tomorrow, the women will compete on the 3-meter board while the men take on the platform event.
Action will begin at 11:30 a.m. MST, with live streaming available here and live scoring updates available on Divemeets.
