FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (August 21, 2026) – The Northern Arizona soccer team plays its first home match of 2026 this weekend, welcoming UC San Diego to Lumberjack Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 23. NAU brings an even 1-1 record into the weekend, after falling 2-0 on the road to New Mexico last night. The Jacks suffered their first shutout on the year, after winning the season opener 2-0 at UC Riverside on Aug. 12.
Micala Boex and
Ava Hinske have tallied NAU's scores this year, with
Kaylee Muniz and
Taija Anderson owning one assist apiece.
Lexi Saveski has spent all 180 minutes of the season in goal and has made six saves total for a .750 save percentage.
UC San Diego stands at 2-1, following a 2-1 win at UNLV on Thursday. The Tritons were picked ninth in the Big West Preseason Poll and have won back-to-back games after dropping their season opener to San Diego State, 2-0. Ava Tibor leads the attack with two goals, while a trio of Tritons have each recorded one assist. Charlotte Wilfert has spent the most time in goal, racking up six saves for a .600 save percentage. Triton alumna Kristin Jones is now in her eighth year at the helm in La Jolla, owning a record of 58-52-28.
It will be just the third meeting all-time between the schools, as NAU trails 0-1-1 in the series. Last season, the two fought to a 0-0 draw in La Jolla on Aug. 21.
