FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – (August 23, 2026) – The Northern Arizona soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with UC San Diego on Sunday afternoon at Lumberjack Stadium.

NAU (1-1-1) was paced by Micala Boex with four shots, two on target, while Ava Hinske and Valerie Llamas each took a pair of shots. Offense was nearly even, with UCSD taking 12 to NAU's 10, but the Tritons drew five corners while the Jacks secured just two.

Lexi Saveski made her third start of the year in goal and played wire-to-wire, making a season-high six saves. With the scoreless draw, the redshirt junior collects the third shutout of her career.

The Triton attack (2-1-1) was led by three players with two shots apiece.

Both sides found a few opportunities early before a lightning strike initiated a delay in the 16th minute that suspended action for nearly 90 minutes.

At the resumption of play, teams adjusted to a slick field, searching for their offensive flow. The Tritons would put their next four shots on goal, as Saveski made five of her six saves for the contest in the first half.

NAU tested the Triton goalie early in the second period, with Maddie Jost taking a shot on target in the 48th minute. The NAU backline shined in several moments in the game, especially as it held off a flurry of shots off a UCSD corner kick in the 49th minute.

The Jacks controlled tempo for much of the second half, finding opportunities in the 65th and 70th minutes and taking possession deep into their attacking zone in several moments.

NAU was able to draw a corner kick off a shot on goal in the 89th minute as time wound down but couldn't keep the ball in the box for a last chance at breaking the tie.

NAU and UC San Diego have now played back-to-back scoreless draws in the short all-time series between the schools.

The Lumberjacks remain in Flagstaff next weekend, and will face UTEP on Sunday, Aug. 30. Kickoff with the Miners is scheduled for 1 p.m. Mountain Standard time and will be streamed on ESPN+.
