FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Sep. 1, 2026) – The Northern Arizona soccer team hits the road for a pair of away matches this week. The Lumberjacks start in Reno at Nevada on Thursday, Sep. 3 at 6 p.m. MST and finishing in Moraga at Saint Mary's on Sunday, Sep. 6 at 1 p.m. MST. The contest against Nevada will be streamed on Mountain West+, and the game against Saint Mary's will be streamed on ESPN+.
NAU brings a 1-2-1 record into the weekend, after falling 1-0 to UTEP at home on Sunday in its second of three non-conference matches in Flagstaff. The Jacks play 70% of their non-league schedule on the road, the most of any team in the Big Sky Conference.
The Lumberjacks have started a season 1-2-1 four times in program history, most recently in the 2023 season when they finished 11-6-3. NAU also began the 2008 and 2009 seasons 1-2-1, when it claimed the Big Sky Championship in back-to-back years.
Nevada evened its record at 2-2 on Sunday after topping Portland State 4-1 in Hillsboro. The Wolfpack were picked 10th in their Preseason Poll and are the third of four opponents NAU will face from the Mountain West this season. Leslie Jacobo Duran and Jasmine Navarro have two goals apiece so far, while Mia Collins has spent the most minutes in goal and has made 18 saves for a .720 save percentage.
Saint Mary's stands unbeaten at 3-0-2 and was projected to finish fourth in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll. The contest will bring a challenge to the Lumberjack attack, as Saint Mary's has yet to concede a goal in the 2026 season. The Gaels most recently shutout USC 1-0, extending a program-record shutout streak to five matches. On the other end, Ashley Vaughn has tallied three goals while Savannah Schwarze has provided three assists to lead the SMC attack.
