In 2025, NAU and ISU had an eventful season when facing each other. The 'Jacks swept the Bengals in Idaho, overcoming a 24-18 deficit in the third set with eight straight points to win 26-24 and take the match, 3-0.

Then ISU came to Flagstaff, the match unfolded into an extraordinary marathon battle, featuring the longest set played in NCAA volleyball that season. The second set was remarkable in its length and intensity, featuring 27 ties and eight lead changes. After an unsuccessful ISU challenge, the set finally ended at 44-42, capping a historic and fiercely contested frame. The set is the fifth highest-scoring set in women's college volleyball history. The win over Idaho State came on senior night for NAU and guaranteed the 'Jacks at least a share of the regular-season title, which they eventually won outright.

The Bengals got their revenge just nine days later in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament, winning 3-2 in another grueling battle between the two teams.

In the all-time series, NAU leads ISU, 46-42, dating back to 1979.

The Bengals are led by head coach Sean Carter, who enters his fifth season at the helm of the Idaho State volleyball program in 2026. Since taking over the Bengals in the summer of 2022, Carter has compiled a 55-65 overall record and a 29-35 mark in Big Sky Conference play. Carter came to Pocatello after spending the previous eight seasons as the associate head coach at Wichita State and is the 11th head coach in program history.

Weber State is 8-4 overall and 1-1 in Big Sky play, opening conference play with a 3-1 road loss to Eastern Washington before earning a 3-1 win over Idaho.

Senior opposite hitter Rose Moore leads the Wildcats in kills with 176 total and averages 3.67 kills per set, which ranks second in the Big Sky. Alexis Carson ranks seventh in the conference in kills with 3.11 per set and eighth in hitting percentage at .305.

Last year, the two teams met once, with the 'Jacks taking down the 'Cats, 3-2, in Flagstaff. In the all-time series, NAU leads, 49-43, dating back to 1974.

Weber State is led by head coach Jeremiah Larsen, who enters his 12th season in 2026. Since taking over in 2015, Larsen has guided the Wildcats to two Big Sky regular-season titles, two tournament titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances, including one tournament win. With 184 career wins, he ranks second in school history, while his 109 Big Sky Conference victories are the most by any coach in Weber State history. He also ranks second all-time in winning percentage.
