RENO, Nev. (September 3, 2026) –Behind the first brace of Micala Boex's career, the Northern Arizona soccer team took a 3-0 win over Nevada on Thursday night inside Mackay Stadium.

Boex's two-goal outing marks the first multi-goal game of her career, as the forward led NAU's attack with five shots, placing all five on target. Mayson Houseman tallied the first goal of her career for NAU's other score, as the freshman placed both of her shots on goal as well. Taija Anderson and Valerie Llamas also took two shots apiece to round out the offense.

Lexi Saveski made the start in goal and played wire-to-wire, making two saves to collect the fourth shutout of her career. In front of Saveski, NAU's backline held the Wolfpack to only four shots for the night.

NAU (2-2-1) led for nearly the entire 90 minutes, as Houseman's goal arrived in just the third minute of action. After a defender headed the ball attempting to clear it out of NAU's attacking zone, she found herself in the right spot and placed a shot into the left of the goal and past the Nevada keeper to give NAU the early lead.

The Lumberjacks kept their foot on the gas, holding possession for much of the first period. Boex's first goal arrived in the 22nd minute, as she capitalized off a miscue from the Nevada backline and sent the ball past the displaced keeper to take NAU into halftime up 2-0.

Defense was the story of the second half, as the NAU backline did not allow a shot from Nevada in the period. In the 73rd minute, Kristen Puels played a pass to a sprinting Boex who then beat two Woflpack defenders and ripped a shot in the top corner of the net to close the door on the hosts.

With the shutout, NAU records its third shutout of the season in five matches.

The Lumberjacks remain on the road and head to California to play Saint Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
