FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (September 8, 2026) – The Northern Arizona soccer team continues its season this week with a road match against Arizona and a home contest with Grambling State. The Lumberjacks will kickoff against the Wildcats on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. MST and the Tigers on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. MST. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+.
NAU brings a 2-3-1 record into the week, following a 1-0 defeat to Saint Mary's on Sunday in Moraga and a 3-0 shutout of Nevada on Sept. 3 in Reno.
Micala Boex collected the first brace of her career against the Wolfpack, earning her Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week. The pair of goals also brought her total career goals to 14, moving Boex into a tie with Maddie Shafer for 10th all-time in program history. She leads the conference in shots per game (four) and shots on goal per game (2.17), while ranking fifth in goals (three).
Lexi Saveski was tabbed the league's Defensive Player of the Week after recording the shutout at Nevada. The redshirt junior sits second in save percentage (.875) and third in GAA (.55) in the conference. The Lumberjacks as a team are third in GAA (.67).
NAU has started a season 2-3-1 four times in program history, most recently in the 2019 season when it finished 8-8-3. The 'Jacks also began the 2008 and 2014 campaigns 2-3-1 and finished both those seasons with Big Sky Championship titles.
Arizona mirrors NAU with a 2-3-1 mark, and most recently suffered a 1-0 loss to Dartmouth in Tucson. The Wildcats were picked 12th in the Big 12's Preseason Poll. Jessica Bedolla and Mireya Stephenson have each tallied a pair of goals so far on the season, while five Wildcats own a single assist. Sofia Cortes-Brown has started all six games in goal for Arizona and owns a .643 save percentage and 1.43 GAA. Head coach Becca Moros is in her sixth season at the helm in Tucson and spent more than a decade playing professionally, including six seasons in the NWSL prior to coaching.
Grambling State captured the 2025 SWAC Championship and currently stands at 1-4-1. The Tigers were picked second in the league's preseason poll, in Chris Logan's first season as head coach in Grambling. GSU most recently fell to McNeese State 1-0 and will face Arizona State in Tempe on Thursday before heading to Flagstaff. Nyla Dore-Anderson has scored four goals to lead the Tiger attack, while Alina Arneth has spent just over 500 minutes between the posts this season, compiling a .618 save percentage and 2.34 GAA. Sunday's contest will also mark the inaugural match between the 'Jacks and Tigers.
