2015: Posted a career-best distance of 17.10m in the shot put when he finished second in that event at the Big Sky Indoor Championships ... Won the weight throw at the Mountain T's Invitational with a career-best distance of 17.22m ... Also competed in the weight throw at the Big Sky Indoor Championships ... Posted a career-best hammer throw distance of 55.95m at the Sun Angel Classic ... Competed in the hammer throw, shot put and discus at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, his best finish was fourth in the shot put
2014: Was a solid contributor for the Lumberjack men in the throws department... Competed at the Big Sky Indoor Championships in the shot put event... Scored in two events at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships to help the NAU men to a team title... Finished sixth in the discus throw with a best of 159-4... Finished seventh in the men's shot put with a best of 51-9.75
2013: Competed both indoors and outdoors while battling a nagging calf injury ... Threw a career best indoors in the weight throw at the Mountain T's Invitational (55-10.25/17.02m) ... Season best in the shot put came at the Big Sky Indoor Championships, tossing the ball 52-6.5 (16.01m) and placing ninth overall ... Outdoor season best in the shot put (50-9.25/15.47m) came at the Willie Williams Invitational ... Also tossed close to a career best in the discus at the same meet, notching a mark of 153-0 (46.64m) ... Led the team in the hammer throw outdoors with a best mark of 148-9 (45.33m) ... Closed his outdoor season with a 13th-place finish in the shot put and 17th in the discus at the Big Sky Championships.
2012: Was NAU's top shot putter during both the indoor and outdoor seasons ... Earned All-Big Sky honors for the first time in his career with a third-place finish in the shot put at the Big Sky Indoor Championships (52-11.5) ... Tossed a season-best of 53-9.25 at the NAU Open ... Also threw the discus during the outdoor season, notching a personal-best mark of 153-9 at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, good enough for ninth overall.
2011: Redshirt season.
High School: Graduated from Gloucester High School in 2010 … Competed four years in football and track and field … Was a four-year letter winner on the track, recording personal-best marks of 56 feet in the shot put and 175 feet in the discus … Competed at the Nike Indoor Nationals two years in a row … Three-year letter winner in football and a member of the two-time Massachusetts State Championship team.
Personal: Born to Charlie and Elizabeth Margiotta on Oct. 23, 1991 … Has one older sister, Josie, and a younger brother, Bart … Also considered attending Penn State, Miami (Fla.), Florida, Rhode Island and Massachusetts before choosing NAU ... Represented NAU at NCAA’s Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Dallas, Texas over the 2012 Winter Break.
