Lora Maxwell (Coach, 1923-64)

A pioneer in women's coaching, Ms. Maxwell organized the Women's Recreation Association in 1930, and forerunner of today's intercollegiate athletic program for ladies at NAU.  She also organized the university's first women's physical education program.  Coached archery, rifle, and basketball.  NAU's 1951 homecoming activities were dedicated to her honor.
