2014 Cross Country: Opened his 2014 season with a sixth-place finish at the Washington Invitational ... he finished third for the 'Jacks are the Wisconsin adidas Invitational with a 21st-place finish ... his third-place finish at the Big Sky Championships earned him all Big Sky honors ... he set the pace at the NCAA Mountain Regional before finishing 14th overall, an All-Mountain Region finish ... at the NCAA Championships, he finished 36th overall and earned his second All-American honor
2013 Cross Country: Was a major contributor to the men's team... Top finish came at the George Kyte Classic where he finished fourth with a time of 25:01.2... Finished ninth at the Cowboy Jamboree with a time of 24:58.02... Finished 12th at the Big Sky Championships with a time of 25:16.38... Finished 60th at the Mountain Region Championships... Finished 139th at the NCAA National Championships helping NAU to a second place finish.
2012 Cross Country: Competed in six meets... Finished fifth at the George Kyte Classic with a time of 25:34.2... Finished seventh at the Pac-12 Preview Elite Invite with a time of 24:55... Finished 134th at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational with a time of 24:26... Finished 7th at the Big Sky Championships with a time of 25:23... Finished 13th at the Mountain Region Championships with a time of 30:25.8... Finished 75th at the NCAA National Championships with a time of 30:31.2.
2012 Track & Field: Competed in three events for the Lumberjacks in his first indoor season ... Had the team’s second-best mark at season’s end in the 3,000-meter run after posting a time of 8:17.11@ in a fifth-place effort at Big Sky Indoors ... Also ran his career-best in the 5,000 meters at the same meet, clocking 14:32.09@ and finishing fourth overall as one of five NAU scorers ... Competed in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters during the outdoor season, and was NAU’s No. 2 steeplechaser and No. 3 5K runner ... Narrowly missed going sub-nine minutes in his best outing in the steeplechase, running 9:04.40 at the Mt. SAC Relays ... Surprised everyone by taking the Big Sky title in the 5,000-meters, running a personal best 14:26.88@ to close out a remarkable freshman season.
2011 Cross Country: Was the only freshman and one of three Lumberjacks to compete in six races on the season ... Emerged as a constant contributor to the squad with a seventh-place finish (26:32.1) in his inaugural race at the George Kyte Classic ... Saw his first national com- petition at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree and the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, finishing in 25:25.34 (73rd) and 25:17 (168th), respectively ... Was only four spots from all- conference honors at the Big Sky Championships with a 14th-place mark (25:54.24) ... Placed 38th at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships in his first college 10K race (31:38.3) ... Improved upon his regional time and had his finish count towards the team score for just the second time at the NCAA Championships (31:30.1; 177th).
High School: Four-year all-state honoree in cross country and track & field for the 1600 and
3200-meter runs...holds school records in the 1600m (4:15.07), the 3200m (9:11.98), and
5000m (15:01.97)...Holds the Class One Missouri State record in cross country...Holds the
record for longest streak of victories in cross country (11)...Led his cross country team to
state championships four years in a row
Personal: Born to Tim Hoover and Sarah Dougherty on July 22, 1992...has four younger
brothers: Derek, Johnny, Hagen, and Thomas...also considered Oklahoma, Liberty
University, and Kansas University before choosing NAU...enjoys kayaking, hiking, and
backpacking in his free time.
