2014 Track & Field: Had a fantastic track season with NAU... Took bronze at the Big Sky Indoor Championships in the mile run... Helped the men's DMR team to a silver medal at the conference indoor championships... Qualified for the NCAA Indoor National Championships in both the 3000m and 5000m run... Finished eighth at the national meet in the 3000m run garnering All-American classification... Outdoor season was much of the same success... Top performance came at the Payton Jordan Invitational where he took second in the men's 5000m run with a time of 13:49.26... Took home a bronze and a silver medal in the 1500m and 5000m run, respectively... Competed at the NCAA West Prelim in the 5000m run...
2013 Track & Field: Was a major contributor in his first track season as a Lumberjack... Garnered three top-three finishes at the Big Sky Indoor Championships including a Big Sky title in the 800m run... Recorded a season-best in the mile at the NAU Tune Up with a time of 3:59.52@ which was tops in the Big Sky all season... Big Sky Champion in the men's 800m run... Competed in two events at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships, finished third in the men's 800m and fourth in the men's 1500m run... Recorded a season-best in the 1500m with a time of 3:43.35 at the ASU-UA-NAU Tri Dual which was second best in the Big Sky all season behind Diego Estrada.
2012 Cross Country: Made his presence known early and often throughout a breakout sophomore season, winning his first two races, the George Kyte Classic and the Pac-12 Preview, and adding a Big Sky title to boot ... Led the Lumberjacks to just its sixth Mountain Region Championship in school history with an All-Region fifth-place finish in 30:09.5 ... Earned his first All-America honor at the NCAA Championships, an event he had never previously finished, by taking 15th overall in a time of 29:37.7 ... Led the NAU men to a fourth-place finish at the meet, its third podium appearance in six years.
Before NAU: Transferred from Oregon after competing for the Ducks from 2010-12 ... Qualified for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships as a freshman in 2010 ... Appeared at the NCAA West Region Championships in 2011.
High School: Graduated from Sinagua High School in 2010 after competing under former NAU 10,000-meter record holder Bo Reed ... Was a three-time Arizona Gatorade Athlete of the Year, twice in cross country and once in track & field ... Was a two-time Foot Locker National Championship finalist (11th-2009, 5th-2010) ... Named to the All-America First Team his senior year in cross country ... Claimed medalist honors at the 2009 Foot Locker West Regionals ... Won three consecutive state titles in cross country, and won 10 state championships on the track, during which he set school, city, and region records in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200-meter runs.
Personal: Born to Thomas and Donna Shrader on July 22, 1991 in Flagstaff ... Has two sisters, Jacqueline and Jamie ... Chose NAU because, to him, there isn't a better place in the world to run and train ... He says running in the footsteps of the numerous Olympians and national championship-caliber teams that have come through Flagstaff is a great inspiration.
