Bradley Foote

Bradley Foote is in his third season with the Lumberjacks as he began in January of 2022 as an Assistant Coach with a focus on throwing events.
 
The 2024 outdoor track & field season saw three of Foote’s throwers earn Big Sky individual titles. Sariyah Horne-Kemp and Garret Bernt each took the title in the hammer throw, while Piper Pfister took gold in the javelin. Horne-Kemp and Bernt went on to compete at the NCAA West Regional in the hammer throw along with Parker Bays who competed in the shot put.
 
During the 2024 indoor season, Foote coached Garret Bernt to a third-place finish at the NCAA National Championship in the weight throw, with Bernt setting a school and conference record after a throw of 23.09 meters. Bernt also took gold at the Big Sky Conference Championships, completing a sweep of the top three places in the event along with Desmond Lott and Parker Bays. Foote saw an additional Big Sky individual title with Alaina Diggs in the shot put.
 
At the 2023 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championships, Foote’s weight throwers swept the top four places in the event. John Murphy took the gold, while Desmond Lott and Garret Bernt completed the podium sweep. Foot sent five athletes to the NCAA West Regional. Earlier in the outdoor season, Trevor Hook broke the NAU school record in the javelin with a throw of 68.49 meters.
 
The 2023 indoor season was highlighted by strong performances from Foote’s weight throwers. John Murphy broke the NAU school record before going on to take the event win at the conference championships. Along with Murphy, Desmond Lott and Parker Bays performed well at the conference championships to sweep the podium in the weight throw.
 
Prior to coming to NAU, Foote spent four years as an Assistant Coach at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. While there he coached the women’s shot put squad to No. 12 in the nation, had six throwers qualify for NCAA West Regionals, and saw 11 individual WAC Champions, nine runner-up, and 54 All-WAC performances. Foote also coached Desirea Buerge while at UTRGV, who placed 11th in women’s discus at the 2021 USATF Olympic Trials after ranking sixth that collegiate season.
 
Foote began his coaching career at Iowa Central Community College as an Assistant Coach in 2013. During his time at ICCC, Foote coached Brady Gunder to an NJCAA National Championship in the hammer throw as well as Brian Williams to an NJCAA Outdoor Championship in the discus, with Williams going on to earn a spot at the USATF Olympic Trials.
 
In 2016, Foote was awarded NJCAA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor season after leading nine women to the NJCAA National Championship. The next year he helped the ICCC team to an Indoor NJCAA National Championship, with one athlete earning an individual NJCAA National Championship.
 
Foote attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and was a member of the track & field team.
