Junior (2019-20): Earned two new record best times at 2020 WAC Championship in 50 free (23.80) and 100 fly (55.51)... Swam the third leg to place third in 200 medley relay (1:32.62)... Also swam in 100 backstroke (56.87) and 200 backstroke (2:04.39) at championships… Appeared in all dual meets for the ‘Jacks.

2018-19 (Sophomore): Competed in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke at the WAC Championships... Swam in C final to record a time of 57.08 in 100 butterfly... Finished with career best 200 butterfly in the C Final with 57.05.

2017-18 (Freshman): Swam in 100 and 200 backstroke, 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly at the WAC Championships...Swam in C Final and recorded a season-best time of 2:03.44 in the 200 Back...Swam in C Final after a season-best prelim time of 57.04...Also recorded season-best times of 24.39 in the 50 Free and 58.07 in the 100 Fly...Totaled 12 top-three finishes during the season...Placed second in the 200 Back versus San Diego.

High School: Four-year letterwinner and one-year team captain at Flagstaff HS...Placed fifth at the Division II State Championships in the 100 backstroke (58.56) as a senior…Also placed 14th in the 100 freestyle (55.01)…Named Arizona Daily Sun Swimmer of the Year in 2015 and 2016…Named team’s Swimmer of the Year from 2014-16...Received school’s Iron Eagle Athletics Award for Spirit Leadership in 2015…Holds school records in the 50 freestyle (25.13), 100 freestyle (54.17), 200 freestyle (1:59.13), 100 backstroke (58.43) and 400 freestyle relay (3:47.45)…Also swam for Lumberjack Aquatics club team…3.5 high school GPA…Letter in Academics three years…Member of high school’s Links Club and Raising Student Voice and Participation.

Personal: Lauren Mae Hazel was born Feb. 25 in Flagstaff, Ariz....Daughter of Joseph Hazel and Nancy Evans…One younger sister, Jackie…Both parents attended grad school at NAU…Mother, Nancy, played volleyball at Notre Dame…Hobbies include drawing, using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, skiing, camping and hiking…Lists most exciting event as when her younger sister was born…Chose NAU because after visiting other campuses she realized she wanted to go to college in her hometown and swim for Coach Johns.
