Mitch Strohman

The General Manager of NAU-TV and Assistant Director of Creative Operations at NAU, veteran broadcaster Mitch Strohman returns for his 22nd consecutive season and 25th overall as the radio “Voice of the Lumberjacks” for football and men’s basketball on the Learfield, Northern Arizona Healthcare NAU Lumberjack Network. Adding in his years wearing the broadcast headset in the early 1990’s for Lumberjack games on Flagstaff cable-TV, Strohman is in his 29th year overall of doing play-by-play of NAU sports.

Entering the 2025-26 season, Strohman has called the play-by-play for 257 NAU Football and 709 NAU Men's Basketball games on the radio, in addition to numerous Lumberjack women’s basketball, volleyball and soccer games. Strohman has called 1,095 NAU Lumberjack games on TV and radio combined over his 36 years in Flagstaff. Strohman has also called more than 100 Flagstaff-area high school football and basketball games on local radio.
 
A decorated news and sportscaster in Arizona, Strohman is a recipient of two Governor Cups and an Arizona Broadcast Journalist of the Year award from the Arizona Associated Press.  In 1988, he was honored with the national Best Single Story Coverage Award from the AP. He has produced and hosted three radio sports and news talk shows in Flagstaff, and he’s hosted numerous shows on NAU-TV including the popular "What's Cooking with Mitch". Strohman is the announcer for NAU’s annual Homecoming Parade, he’s emceed hundreds of events and fundraisers, served on several non-profit boards, was a part-time faculty member in NAU's School of Communication in the 1990’s and he’s in his 31styear as a volunteer on-air fundraiser for Arizona PBS-TV. Strohman is a part of NAU's Legacy Group for his work on behalf of the university and its students.
 
Strohman is married to the former Ana Morales, a NAU graduate.  They have two children: Zach (32) and Catalina (26), a former NAU student.
