Ruben Montano enjoyed a weekend full of clinching points during the NAU men's tennis team's run to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth at the Big Sky Championships in Phoenix. He went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles and 2-0 at No. 5 singles against Idaho State and Portland State on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27. His two doubles victories - 7-5 against Idaho State and 6-4 against Portland State - with Tim Handel clinched the doubles point for the Lumberjacks. He then posted singles wins by scores of 6-4, 6-2 versus the Bengals' Gary Rendek and 6-3, 6-4 versus the Vikings' Sam Roberts for the match-clinching points. The latter sealed up NAU's first Big Sky tournament title since 1997.
